Ricardo Abud has been named president of CMD Corporation. Currently the chief operating officer for the firm, Abud will move into his new role on March 31, taking over for the retiring Steve Sakai. He will champion employee development and workplace enrichment – programs that help CMD rank among the best places to work in the plastics industry and will lead the company on its continuous commitment to advancing equipment technology, expanding CMD’s international footprint and market presence, and fostering a culture of customer focus.

Abud joined CMD in early 2016 as VP of marketing and business development. He has taken on increasing responsibilities, including the leadership of three business unit teams, analysis and expansion of international product portfolio, and most recently, as COO. Ricardo has over 28 years of domestic and international business experience in the food, paper and capital equipment industries. He has held a wide range of manufacturing, technical and sales roles throughout his career.

Prior to joining CMD, Ricardo was the global sales director for PCMC, with previous experience as the managing director for Schreiber Foods’ Uruguay operation, and general manager of Schreiber’s Machinery Division. He speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.

“Ricardo brings a dynamic blend of vision, experience and energy to lead CMD to next-level success,” says Sakai, who will remain at CMD for a transition period before retiring in May. “He has been successful in a variety of challenging and diverse positions including sales and business development, marketing, and executive-level leadership. He is well-prepared to assume the role of president.”
