DS Smith Plastics’ Rapak North America division has released an NSF-approved REOS line-side connector for commercial bag-in-box edible oil dispensing systems. The REOS (Rapak Edible Oil System), screw-on line-side connector links the compatible edible bag-in-box to the dispensing machine so oil can be introduced into dispensing systems in a clean, efficient and sanitary way.
Rapak’s bag ― comprised of a biaxially-oriented nylon (BON) lamination ― is both oil and moisture resistant. The REOS connector is ideal for commercial dispensing systems with constant evacuation, such as commercial popcorn makers in movie theatres or other entertainment venues. Rapak also offers a bag-in-box solution for edible oil that is used for other applications where commercial dispensing systems are not used.
Bag-in-box packaging for edible oil and other oil-based liquids is the ideal packaging alternative to standard tin cans, plastic bottles or plastic jug-in-box (JIB) packaging. It provides UV-light and oxidation protection. In addition, the packaging environmental impact has been estimated to be up to eight times lower than alternative packaging formats.
The REOS line-side connector complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 18. This NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) International standard establishes food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, construction and performance of manual food and beverage dispensing equipment.
