Presto Products Company’s Weyauwega, Wisconsin, facility received a perfect score and “Excellent” rating during the plant’s recent Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification Audit.
A Global Food Safety Initiative, SQF is a rigorous system designed to manage food safety risks and provide consumers with safe products. The Weyauwega facility underwent a two-day certification audit in October, receiving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 possible points and an “Excellent” rating. The new certification allows Presto to reach a deeper customer base that requires packaging to meet increased food safety demands.
“Since day one of preparation in 2009, SQF certification has been a total team effort, with support from departments at both the plant and corporate level,” says Brad Hansen, Presto president. “Presto is dedicated to bringing the best, and safest, products possible to our customers and the Weyauwega facility SQF certification further exemplifies and enhances that commitment.”
An extensive certification process, SQF audit preparation began several years ago with the ongoing implementation and documentation of several programs and processes, including document/record control, verification and validation, training, management review, product safety and personnel hygiene controls, internal audits and a host of drills, among others.
