Die-cut lid and shrink-sleeve manufacturer Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Bury, formerly Chadwicks, has named Lauren Stone as an engineering apprentice.

 

Stone, the company’s first female engineer, joins Clondalkin on a three-year, Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance – EME Engineered Systems (Pathway E) Advanced Apprenticeship.

 

Stone is serving in the production department. Initial responsibilities include managing the change and setting of cutting tools, as well as the maintenance of a variety of printing, cutting and sleeving machinery and equipment.

 

“Lauren is a welcome addition to the team, bringing with her a keen interest in learning and great enthusiasm,” said Manufacturing Manager Simon Timperley. “We are delighted to have her working with us and developing her skills.”

 

Stone’s apprenticeship involves a day-release arrangement with her college time spent at Alliance Learning in Bolton, England.

 

“It’s great to get involved in a real manufacturing environment,” Stone said. “The products we produce here are seen on every trip to the supermarket. Outputting high-quality products requires a lot of technical knowledge and specialist techniques behind the scenes that I am starting to understand. I am finding it all very interesting, and it’s a fast-paced learning environment.”
