International ink supplier Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA will acquire family-owned Tupahue Tintas, a São Paulo, Brazil-based market leader for flexo and gravure printing inks and varnishes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
With this acquisition, Siegwerk expands its presence in Latin America and further strengthens its ability to serve local market demands. Since its founding in 1989, Tupahue Tintas has offered innovative ink solutions designed for serving the needs of packaging converters. Tupahue Tintas’ portfolio is suitable for a wide range of substrates such as LDPE, HDPE, BOPP, PP, polyolefin, polyester, aluminium, metallized films and others.
“With the purchase of Tupahue Tintas we add a well-established ink provider with high quality products for packaging applications to the Siegwerk family,” says Andrea Serturini, president and head of the Latin American region for Siegwerk. “You can see a growing demand for customized applications and high-end packaging in Latin America. When it comes to packaging, flexo and gravure solvent-based are still the major printing processes used in the region. Combining Tupahue’s and our know-how and technology in these fields adds great value to our offering for the local markets.”
The acquisition includes Tupahue’s technical expertise, product portfolio and manufacturing equipment. Tupahue and Siegwerk will work closely together to ensure a smooth integration of the business without any interference for current customers of both companies.
“Investments in the emerging markets like Latin America or Asia are a fundamental pillar of our growth strategy,” says Siegwerk CEO Herbert Forker. “Getting closer to customers and offering our solutions and services at the same high quality worldwide is one of our strategic goals. We will especially continue investing in resources supporting all different segments of the packaging market.”
