Sun Chemical’s Mathew C. Mathew has been awarded the Technical Achievement Award from the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM).
As a technical manager at Sun Chemical, Mathew received the award for his contributions to the science of printing ink formulation, manufacture or application. Some of Mathew’s most notable achievements in the industry include his work formulating conductive inks for touchscreen devices, packaging laminating inks, water-based technology for printing on film and energy-curable inks.
“Mathew has been a major contributor in the development of new products within a wide range of ink disciplines,” said Tom DeBartolo, director of liquid tnk technologies, Sun Chemical. “His knowledge, expertise and innovative thinking have made a significant impact on Sun Chemical’s ability to be recognized as a technology leader in the industry. He is clearly a worthy recipient and I am pleased to see him receive this prestigious award.”
Mathew has worked with Sun Chemical for 30 years and in the industry for 34. He began his career in printing ink formulation as a chemist, enjoying a successful and rewarding career at Sun Chemical developing cutting-edge technologies and formulations for packaging inks, including 12 patents. Mathew holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Aston University in Birmingham, England.
“Receiving this award is a tremendous honor, and something I don't take lightly,” Mathew said. “It’s a humbling privilege. It inspires me to work harder and to try to represent our industry in the best manner possible.”
