LPS Industries is using PACK EXPO (Booth S-6917) to announce a significant expansion of its production capabilities at its New Jersey-based facility. The company is in the process of installing three new pouch machines that convert supported laminates and poly materials, a new flexo printing press and two new combo poly bag/poly mailer lines that adds new capabilities, increases efficiency and operational redundancy.

All of the new functionality is projected to be commercially operational during the fourth quarter of 2017.

“Maintaining a preferred packaging partner status with our customers requires making strategic operational investments that will ultimately provide greater packaging opportunities for their flexible packaged brands,” says Madeleine Robinson, CEO of LPS Industries.

Two new production lines of combo poly bag equipment will accommodate a wider range of poly gauges, up to 8 mils. Bags can be produced with a press-to-seal zipper or tape closure, and up to 8-color process printing is available.

In addition to converting the traditional film/foil/paper laminates, LPS Industries’ new pouch making system will make pouches from unsupported co-ex films. LPS is also expanding its ability to process several varieties of three-side-seal pouches, press-to-close zipper pouches, standup pouches and side gusseted pouches from single or multiple webs. Additional enhancements include the ability to insert separate bottom or side gusset films, register print on both sides of a pouch and on the bottom gussets or side gussets, and create rounded corner pouches.

LPS’ new flexo printing press will increase overall efficiency and add more print capacity, as well as ensuring continuity of operations. It will accommodate a full range of printable substrates and print up to eight process colors, including specialized inks and varnish designs.

“By continuing to invest in our business, we’re broadening the trusted partner relationship that exists with our clients,” says Robinson. “That’s a big reason why many of them have been working with us for decades. New clients get the assurance that in addition to our range of flexible packaging resources, they will be working with a partner whose operations and quality program is designed to exceed medical quality standards.”
