Promoting

Flexible packaging has a great story to tell. As the voice of the industry, FPA works very hard to support this story with research and industry data, and uses every method of outreach possible to connect with policy makers, media, and consumers. FPA also provides data and tools to help members run their businesses smarter and communicate more persuasively with their stakeholders.

Advocacy

FPA is engaged in a long-term public affairs and marketing strategy to prevent negative precedents and potential barriers to growth of the flexible packaging industry. Our lobbying firms promote the benefits and sustainability of flexible packaging to legislators and policy makers at the federal and state level. FPA’s Advocacy priorities include solid waste management, material composition transparency, sustainability, the role of packaging in reducing food waste, food safety, and e-commerce.

Sustainability

FPA leads an industry effort to better understand all aspects of packaging sustainability, end-of-packaging-life programs, and resource recovery alternatives. FPA commissioned several in-depth studies and supports ongoing research to help tell the positive story of how flexible packaging uses less material and energy, and generates fewer emissions throughout its life cycle.

Industry Data

FPA’s benchmarking reports provide insightful industry data that helps our members make informed business decisions. FPA staff, based on member surveys, government statistics, and other third party data, develop these reports. The annual State of the Flexible Packaging Industry Report is a definitive source of industry data for converters, suppliers, investors, and analysts. Additional benchmarking reports include invaluable data on earnings, operating costs/ratios, industry compensation, and more.

Every spring, FPA holds its Annual Meeting. The three-day conference offers education on industry specific issues, recognizes outstanding member innovation through the Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Program, and provides networking opportunities for industry leaders and senior management. In the fall, a one-day Executive Conference provides insights into current trends and challenges facing the industry.
