William F. Austen, president and CEO of Bemis Co. Inc., was inducted into the George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame on Oct. 13.

“Our hall of fame started in 2006 and now has 66 members, including Bill Austen. When you consider that George Washington University’s engineering school has about 22,000 living alumni, you immediately understand that our hall of fame is a very select group that truly represents the best-of-the-best of engineering and computer science at GW,” says Dr. David S. Dolling, dean of the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. “We’re proud to count Bill Austen as a member of this prestigious group.”

Austen has served as president and CEO of Bemis since 2014 and has held various leadership roles since joining the company in 2000. Prior to joining Bemis, he spent 20 years at General Electric Co. He holds a master’s degree in engineering administration from George Washington University.

“Bill is an outstanding leader,” says Timothy M. Manganello, chairman of the board for Bemis Co. “Bill drives results, connects well with stakeholders and employees, and embodies all the characteristics of a high-performing leader. I congratulate Bill on this distinguished nomination and support him as he continues to lead change at Bemis Co. toward long-term success.”
