Air Motion Systems is putting the spotlight on its trademarked high-speed Flexo XP Series LED UV system for flexographic presses at booth # 3801 during Labelexpo Americas.
The company also plans to unveil its new Label XD Series system for flexo label presses, featuring a super-compact form factor. When compared with existing drying and traditional UV-curing methods most often used in flexographic label and packaging printing, AMS’ LED UV-curing systems provide significant improvements in quality, speed, efficiency and environmental impact to press operations of all sizes, company officials say.
“LED UV-curing obviously has dramatic advantages over conventional drying methods when it comes to flexo printing,” says AMS president Steve Metcalf. “From the ability to use more stable inks and achieve higher print quality, to drastic reductions in heat on the press and in the web, to greatly reduced energy costs.”
Metcalf explains that LED UV has bypassed traditional UV-curing, too, noting that it makes press rooms safer by eliminating mercury and ozone from the environment.
“At Labelexpo, we’ll be focusing on the message ‘Go fast. Stay cool,’” says Joel O’Leary, AMS’ director of business development. “The fact that flexo presses equipped with the AMS LED UV system can run significantly faster while maintaining notably lower temperatures is one of the main benefits to printers.”
The company will also be providing samples of LED UV-cured films and labels at its booth. For a chance to see the LED UV system in action, visitors can stop by Bobst’s exhibit at booth #5721, 5722, 5726 and 5728, where it will be installed on a Bobst M6 10-color 530 mm press.
