Net sales for flexible packaging converters edged just slightly lower when comparing 4Q 2015 to 3Q 2015. That is according to data reported in FPA’s quarterly ‘Pulse of the Industry’ Report. Some 56% of respondents said that net sales were down compared to one quarter earlier. Of remaining respondents, 39% reported net sales being higher, and 5% said they remained the same.

FPA compiles the ‘Pulse of the Industry’ Report quarterly. The report focuses on short-term, latest quarter to most recent quarter and vs. same period for the prior year. It provides analysis on several benchmarks such as volume, net sales and profitability. The chart to the right shows aggregate data for net sales.

The complete report provides data on expected net sales and volume performance for the next quarter (first quarter 2016 vs. fourth quarter 2015.)

Profitability, however, was virtually the same in comparing the two quarters. Responses came from 41 converters. Of those companies, 49% said profits were lower, 49% said they were higher, and 2% reported no change.
